Obviously, in America you're free to believe in God, or else!...

totally agree, Peg... sad no

i'm for years now saying - the third world war won't be fought among nations, but among rational and religious people...

isn't it just fascinating that in the time when we're able to real-time communicate world-wide, the racial and religious hatred is increasing instead of decreasing?!
isn't it just fascinating that in the time when science is progressing faster than ever (and faster than even experts in given field can keep track of!), the level of education and science-awareness is in fact decreasing?!
isn't it just fascinating that average people today are less aware of "how the world works" than ancient greeks?!... [i don't count "because god wanted so" as an answer to "why ...?"]
isn't it just amazing that people are able to massively refuse anything simply because some almost-2000yo book says so?

btw, why is it funny to people if someone believes in santa claus, but not when someone believes in god? what's the difference? saint nicholaus at least really existed -- and is documented as a historical person, unlike e.g. christ, -- who ever met god?

you 're very right Dearest Jo...
The Bible ( i respect people who believe in it..no offense) is just a very good book ,as violent, dramatic & excessive as possible to me...i don't think it contains the Absolute Truth about all things...
Sometimes people who believed in The Bible ,Coran or Torah were very un-tolerant with other people...it's always surprised me... who we are to condamn this one or this other for his belief or non-belief ? if God really exists only Him (or Her) could judge  us all...
it's dramatically strange to see that wars happen a little everywhere in the world because of different religions ,races or ethnies...we're finally not much more civilized in our times than during pre-history...we're just much more sophisticated...
