nice DVD review:

Quote
The visual and verbal poetry of Miller’s film could’ve become painfully pretentious in the hands of lesser actors, but what’s surprising is how nearly every member of the ensemble matches Wright.

Winona Ryder delivers her best work in years (her character’s disintegration toward the end leads to some great cathartic laughs).

I watched this movie on DVD the other night and found it better than I expected...

Winona's role is small but important...and as noted earlier provided some comic relief...
It is an actor's movie, no doubt... I was most impressed with the lead, Robin Wright, who looks really great as the middle-aged wife trying to deal with all the issues in her life, both past and present...she has an expressive face and an elegant figure and I found myself really enchanted by her performance...
Alan Arkin is seemingly always great these days having grown into this character actor who specializes in weird old men...
Even Keanu Reeves, wooden as always but in character too, does a wonderful job...
Blake Lively, Monica Belucci, Maria Bello, Zoe Kazan...really amazing group...
And Central Connecticut looks lovely in the spring...

I give it 3 stars and worth a rental even for non-Winona fans who enjoy a serious adult film...

I liked it, but I saw this video of the author reading a scene and I found that much more compelling than the actual film scene.

They call it the American Dream, because you have to be asleep to believe it.

Yeah, I saw that too and I agree.
