How do you guys feel about this? I can get behind it, but only if Burton and Keaton are involved... and of course Winona too. http://www.cinemablend.co...Michael-Keaton-27589.htmlBeetlejuice 2 Won't Happen Without Tim Burton's Blessing And Michael Keaton
When I reported last month that David Katzenberg and Seth Grahame-Smith had signed a two year deal with Warner Bros. and were possibly going to work on a sequel to Tim Burton's 1988 classic Beetlejuice, I closed out my article by saying, "let's hope that they can bring back Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Tim Burton. It simply can't be done without them." That appears to be a sentiment shared by Katzenberg and Grahame-Smith, for at least two of the names, anyway. EW recently had the chance to go behind the scenes of KatzSmith Productions and pick up a few details about the possible Beetlejuice 2, and one of the things that stressed was that a) they desire Burton's approval to move forward with the project and that b) it won't be made unless Keaton is available to play the title role. Starting with Katzenberg saying that they would not be remaking the movie (thank god), Grahame-Smith talked about how the project would operate, as the original was released more than two decades ago. "The movie has to be Michael Keaton as Beetlejuice, and it’s a true continuation 26 years later. Not just throwing him in as a cameo going, 'Hey, it’s me. I endorse this movie.' We’re not there yet [with Keaton] because we don’t have a film to present to him." I'm still against the idea of another Beetlejuice movie (just let great movies be) but I will admit that Michael Keaton signing on would likely make me change my opinion almost instantaneously. It's truly unfair that Keaton doesn't get the same amount of work that he used to get and, outside of Batman, Beetlejuice was his most iconic role. If they can actually get him interested, they would get my interest as well.

I don't know if I like this idea. I would love for Winona to fit into Beetlejuice 2, but she really doesn't need to be in it. Anyone could call on Beetlejuice, Lydia just happened to move into a house that was haunted. I would hate to see a sequel without Burton & Keaton though.

Beetlejuice was the first movie I saw Winona in at the theaters... I saw Heathers at my local Bijou theater too... but didn’t recognize her as being in multiple films until Dracula. Anyhow, it looks like both Burton and Keeton are behind a Beetlejuice 2... I’d like to see Winona at least in a cameo in that... but her “gothic” days seem to be long gone... as her hipster days seem to have slipped too. It would be sad, though, if she’s “matured” too much for a wild or fun fiasco of a movie. I’d like to see Beetlejuice 2 take place mostly in the “otherworld” of the dead... http://www.ifc.com/fix/2012/02/beetlejuice-2-michael-keaton

"Beetlejuice 2" is a Sequel, All Major Characters May Return Posted: May 7th, 2012 by WorstPreviews.com Staff
Bloody-Disgusting caught up with writer Seth Grahame-Smith during the "Dark Shadows" press conference and asked him for an update on "Beetlejuice 2" and whether Alec Baldwin, Geena Davis or Winona Ryder's characters will return.
"It's all possible. In terms of the story, however, many years that are between the two films will be the amount of years that are between the two story lines," he explained. "It's not a reboot or a remake, it's a straight sequel with Michael Keaton returning as Beetlejuice."
Grahame-Smith went on to say that he's the reason the film has yet to move forward. "I've met with Michael Keaton about it, I've met with Tim [Burton] about it. Warner Brothers is obviously eager," he said. "But right now the ball is in my court to crack the story that will make it worth doing this again. I don't want to have to look fans in the face and apologize for making a bad 'Beetlejuice' movie. And I don't want to make anything just because I can." http://www.worstpreviews....amp;count=0#ixzz1uBlKpCZK

Doesn't make much sense to me to have Alec Baldwin and Gena Davis back. Do ghosts get older? Alec Baldwin is almost unrecognizable now. Maybe with makeup they can do a cameo Winona should be in it though. Without her it would be lacking I think.

I really hope that if Winona does take the offer, it's not just a cameo role. I'm sick of her just getting cameos.

I think this is a very risky and difficult project... probably a bad idea. At the same time I would love to see Winona Ryder in a new movie with Burton, and I cannot imagine a Beetlejuice movie without Lydia. Jeffrey Jones is having a bad time...

I think it will be a sequel but with none of the original actors except Keaton. Genna, Alec, and Winona may have cameos but I can't see how they would fit into the film. If any character makes sense coming back then it's Lydia. I think the sequel will be Beetlejuice "haunting" a new home with a new family. I'd love to see Winona in another burton live-action film though. I wish she was cast in Big Eyes instead of Reese.
Speaking of: Will there be a world premiere of Frankenweenie? If so, when?

Given the open-ended nature of the "Handbook for the Recently Deceased" it wouldn't be difficult to explain their appearance,no matter what form that they may take. If the story is fresh and original then all of the actors would be expendable, including Keaton and Winona. Keaton would be difficult to replace but not impossible. I'd like to see a good movie and not just a reunion. I'm sour on Winona reprising any role and would much rather see her break new ground and bring a new iconic role to women and fans who are now adults. Not much interest in a grown-up Lydia or Veronica.

I agree with this... but a reunion with Tim sounds great. I don't care what the film is at this point.
