" ' Yeah!! Thank God he is finally dead.' ,...   Bret Easton Ellis "

I doubt that Ellis is on Twitter.

He was a great American writer.

Interested to see if his unpublished works are released.

Travel well.

Yeah I wonder, too.

It was always the becoming he dreamed of,...

Man,in '79 I was dating a girl ,she was built like a Polish brickhouse, and she would dance to that song like Carter would shell peanuts, like the Ayatollah would take hostages. Like Burt Reynolds could drive a Trans AM. Oof.

Who was Sharona?
Apparently an underage California chick...
But this is the best part of the story:

QUOTE: In the early 1990s two film studios, according to Fieger, approached him on the same day seeking to use My Sharona. Told he could pick only one, he opted to have the song soundtrack Winona Ryder dancing in Reality Bites. Fieger said that the alternative - the scene in Pulp Fiction in which Marsellus Wallace is sexually tortured - would have been "hilarious and wonderful", but that he was "hoping to meet Winona Ryder". I always thought Haim was a funny cool actor with a likewise
personality whenever I would see him appear in his films and
The Two Coreys with his bestfriend Corey Feldman. He battled
his concerns with a certain public honesty that was both respectful
and sympathetic.

Feldman will miss him. I'll miss him. Heck, we'll all miss him.

Goodbye, our "Lucas" - Be good, Be great - Buddy.

sad yes

Dennis Hopper (1936-2010)
Sad

Quote
R.I.P., Dennis Hopper
May 29, 2010 |

Dennis Hopper died Saturday morning in Southern California at the age of 74. Hopper, who had been suffering from prostate cancer for some time, was of course a screen legend who had roles in numerous films including "Rebel Without a Cause," "Apocalypse Now" and "Blue Velvet," and of course also directed, co-wrote and co-starred in the generation-defining "Easy Rider."

He'll also be heard on the big screen one more time, as he appears as one of the lead voices in Lionsgate's animated "Alpha and Omega," which comes out on September 17.

We were reminded of all of those roles, as well as his appearance receiving his star on the the Hollywood Walk of Fame, when we heard of his death. "Everything I learned in my life, I learned from you," he told the assembled group of family and friends as he received the honor. Here's The Times' obituary of Hopper's rich and at times complicated life, and, below, The Times' video of the Walk of Fame ceremony.
