Hey! I'm a Cherry Ghost!

« on: February 09, 2008, 12:06:55 AM »

What films have you seen? Which ones did you like/dislike? Who should win? Who will win? if anyone even cares! I usually hate awards shows (unless Winona is there of course) However, this year I actually saw all the nominees so I thought I'd do this.... Smiley

Quote
Best Motion Picture of the Year

Nominees:

There Will Be Blood
Juno
No Country for Old Men
Michael Clayton
Atonement

I want "There Will Be Blood" to win but I think it will be "No Country for Old Men."

Quote
Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role

Nominees:

George Clooney
Daniel Day-Lewis
Johnny Depp
Tommy Lee Jones
Viggo Mortensen

Daniel Day-Lewis will get it and he deserves it- he was fantastic in "There Will be Blood!"

Quote
Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role

Nominees:

Cate Blanchett
Julie Christie
Marion Cotillard

Ellen Page

I want Cate Blanchett to win or Marion Cotillard but Julie Christie will win-I think.

Quote

Tom Wilkinson

I hope Javier Bardem wins and I think he will.

Quote

Quote
Best Achievement in Directing

Nominees:

Paul Thomas Anderson

Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role:
Johnny Depp for Sweeney Todd...of course...Depp for Burton i can't be really really objective(correct term?)..but i really think he would deserve the award...his performance is incredible, unusual for him,surprising...darker & crazier than ever...i don't think the other actors had done such a 'composition' ...they're all very very good but their characters are not far from others they've already made (i didn't see their movies just small parts...) but i can't really say...i hope for J.Depp...

Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role:
of corse ..i hope for Marion Cotillard...didn't see THAT movie about E.Piaf but extracts (correct?) and she's incredible...i know a little about her movies...and she's never been so 'haunted' by a character...i've seen lot of reports about E.Piaf mostly 'cause my g-pa & dad liked her very much and Marion IS Edith...!!!!!she deserves it...

Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen:
Ratatouille !!!!!lovely vision of Paris and France...and food culture here... Tongue happy yes

im sad for T.Burton ... Sad Sad Sad

Likewise, I can only go by from what I've seen.
(Usually, in the past....nothing.)  laugh

Ellen Page is wonderful in Juno. And the screenplay by Diablo is top-notch.

Saoirse Ronan in Atonement is deserving, but you hate to see someone so young win because it can mess up their mind.  laugh Keira Knightley and Vanessa Redgrave are outstanding also, and could've easily been nominated. Redgrave's appearance is brief, but pivotal. And that continuous and impressive tracking shot at the beach of Dunkirk is worth the price of admission alone. Orson Welles even would've been impressed. Cool

Wow, that was short! Normally it seems like it goes on for ever but this was only two hours. The best moment that I saw was the two musicians who won best song. I'm glad they let the girl come back and say a little more. It seems like they shot their film for no money.

I haven't seen any of the nominees for best film so I don't have any strong opinions on who should win. It seems like a good night for No Country for Old Men. I haven't seen that because it has a reputation for being somewhat gory.

I missed Cody's award. Looking at her Wikipedia it seems that she may have got into stripping because she liked it. I guess she is "adventurous" and likes to try different things! It sure has worked out for her though!
