It's that time of year again!!! I'm hoping that Natalie Portman wins Best Actress for Black Swan, she was excellent in that movie.

I've seen a few of the nominated films. Inception was brilliant, one of the best movies of last year. I didn't think much of 'The Social Network'. That was just the cool Hollywood people making fun of the geeks. I'd like to see 'True Grit', but haven't got around to it.

For best director I hope Aronofsky gets it. He has made a lot of great films. For best screenplay I think it has to be Inception.

I enjoyed 'True Grit.' See it, Don.  Cool

Anne Hathaway is a great host. Should be by herself.
Mila Kunis looks stunning. Kirk Douglas was hilarious!

Hey Phil! I'm annoyed at myself, I just realized I completely missed 'The Dilema'. I just checked and the cinemas in my area are no longer showing it. I still have a chance to see 'True grit' though. I'm a big fan of westerns.

I've just remembered that I don't get any reception on the channel which shows the Oscars, so I'll just have to follow it online as best I can.

Where are you, Don? The dark side of the moon?
Damn, just point your rocket ship radio dish towards California.  Cheesy

I guess I'm lucky just to have any tv the past year.
Thanks to a neighbor giving me an extra digital converter rabbit-ear thingy.

Try 35 miles from the transmitter. I pick up 5 channels well enough, and normally I don't miss the other one. It's not like I am short of things to watch.

I've never had any luck with the ABC station since they went digital. Some day I will try to rig up a better antenna. Another one of those projects I've never gotten around to. Why can't they just put it online?

The King's speech did well. It seems Hollywood is still a fan of the British royalty. Inception deserved better, that was a splendid film.

I'm really pleased that Nat Port won for Black Swan. Well deserved, IMO.

Nothing spectacular this year, when it comes to show. and nothing made me laugh, and I laugh every year.
Anne looked nice, she was good host. Gwyneth sang great.

I was pretty bored. I like Anne Hathaway, but she's not a host. Franco was stoned and obviously not that into it. They're not good at working a crowd. I prefer a comedian do it because at least some of it will be funny.

I agree with all you said, Gary. They should have done more of what was so amazing in years before, those edited pieces of movie scenes from past, or maybe bit of trivia to Tony Curtis.

Well that beginning part with Alec Baldwin was OK - not great but technically done very well. It was all downhill after that.  I liked when Hathaway said "It used to be, you get naked you get nominated."

Actually now you have an oral sex scene to be nominated (Portman, Williams, Benning) but only if you're receiving, not giving. Wink
