Hi guys, over the next few weeks I will be posting progress shots of a portrait of Noni I'm having professionally painted on an Oil Canvas. This is the picture I am having painted, I think she looks stunningly beautiful in this picture and it's a nice composition.

I figured you'd all be interested.

That is a great pic...I find her looks at the trial as among her most alluring...good luck!

This one is my favorite...

That's an interesting choice.
What do you see in her face?
Allure?

I dig that Buster painting.  Cool

And I always imagined Winona as an unfinished masterpiece,
sitting in a dark corner, covered, with other lost Renoirs.

Here's how it looks so far. Background is almost done, and still a lot of work to do on the jacket and obviously the face and hand hasn't been started yet.

I don't understand the choice of picture. I mean yes she looks fantastic there, but I don't find anything else about it to be interesting or beautiful to look at. I think I would have nixed the background rubbish and just kept her.

Just answered your own question. She looks fantastic in this one. That was my reasoning. I have pretty much every photo available on the internet of her. I considered it for awhile, and this was my favorite. Regarding the background, that's a moot point as far as I'm concerned. Perhaps your mystified given the circumstances she was in when the photograph was taken. That said, I would love to see a picture you'd have chosen to have been painted.

Judging from the contrast, I think the likeness is uncanny. It's brighter but I find that to be a positive rather than a negative. The quality of the painting will almost determine entirely on how he does the face for me. The reason I picked that photo was because the whole picture is dominated by her.

There are dozens of great pictures of her - but that's not my point. I just don't find the entire image that visually interesting. Accurately capturing the background seems odd to me. Like I said I would have taken her out of that scene. She looks fantastic, but is in a boring courtroom scene that I don't find appealing.

You're entitled to your opinion, but as I say, I'd love to see the photograph you'd have chosen to have been painted. I wouldn't shoot down your choice, Noni looks devastatingly beautiful in practically every photograph she's ever been in. Just curious.

When deciding on having a portrait of Noni painted, I wasn't really doing it because I wanted a visually interesting background. The picture of her in the white dress from The Age of Innocence would have been a good choice, but her face was too small and I wanted a photo that was dominated by her so you could stand 10ft away and still admire her delicate facial features. Perhaps there is nothing special about my choice, but she rarely looked better that day.

I didn't count on so much criticism for my choice or anything. I decided to share it with you all because you're Noni enthusiasts and I thought you'd appreciate the whole process.
