Hi, I feel weird about this new "obsession" of mine. I'm 23 years old, and I feel I just saw Winona Ryder for the first time. I never felt attracted to her, but now, I literally can't get her out of my head. I don't dream about marrying her or something like that, I just can't stop thinking about her face, her voice, her smile, her hair, her look, etc. and I think about her when I'm on bar or something, I just think about her, can't help it. Also, and I know this is kind of stupid, but I feel this "connection" with her, about her depression/insecurity issues she had when she was younger, and the way she was raised by her parents about having her very own personality. I found her interesting. I've watched 2 movies on the Internet, and catch parts of 3 movies and a biography program on TV, all of these in 1 week. All of that stuff of Winona on TV I found it kind of weird too, 'cause it matched the moment my interest for Winona started, and, I think that's a lot of Winona on TV on 6 days period. Or maybe there's always a lot of Winona on TV and I just didn't pay attention to it like I do now.
I know she's human, she must be far from being perfect, I don't know her, maybe if I knew her I could not even like her. But I just feel something when I see her, on a movie, on a interview, or on a picture. It's unbelievable how a person's face and expressions can cause you a lot of sensations, just like a song, a movie, a book, a painting, whatever works for you. She's my desktop background now.
Anyway, I saw an older post, that it's kind of similar to what I'm writting, and It didin't get much feedback. My whole point with these post, is to ask you people, how do you feel with yourselves about these "necessity" of Winona in you life?? Is it last?? or just fade away with time?? do you talk about it with your girlfriend?? or a frined?? or a relative?? or I'm just overreacting to the situation??
Thanks for reading.

She definitely seems to have that effect on people. When I first became a fan several years ago, I wanted to either look like and be just like her, and/or get the chance to meet her. I always thought I would be able to relate to her so well and that we'd have deep and interesting conversations if we became friends, or if I were somehow lucky enough to be her cousin or something. Haha. Oh, teenage-hood. I swear I'm better now P.S. We're the same age. Maybe our infatuation stems from the fact that there are no actresses as cool, weird, unique, and talented as her from our generation. And the '00s and '10s are nowhere near as amazing as the '90s. Let's be real here.

I feel the same way, it's strange.

I feel I can relate to you on this, I am the same age 23 but have had an attraction to Winona for some time (ever since I first saw Edward Scissorhands I think). I don’t know what it was but I just felt like I knew her from somewhere.
I also felt that if there was something on Tv about her or had her starring in then it would seem a lot more interesting and would grab my attention. It has only been in the last year or so that I have went out of my way to either buy or see more of her movies although I had wanted to see them and just not bothered.
I would never call it an obsession I only see myself as a big fan. Everyone has their personal favourites in film or music. I do imagine occasionally how I would go about asking her as nicely as possible for a personalised autograph if I ever met her. But that probably won’t ever happen so…

I grew up watching her movies, but I never actually noticed her until I saw Mr. Deeds in theaters, I guess I was about 14 or 15 at the time, and I got the biggest crush on her, and to this day I still do. I think she's gorgeous. But I'm not like a creeper or anything like that, I just think she's hot and I like her movies. Like others have posted, I feel that we would relate really well, but who knows, I'm pretty sure I'll never meet her. If I did, I'd probably turn bright red and be completely tongue-tied, pretty much look like a complete fool, but maybe I'd be lucky and she'd think it was cute haha. This topic makes me think of when Winona was on Conan and talked about how she was such a fan of Kate Winslet, I thought that was adorable, and made her seem even more relatable.

I'm a straight female but do have a bit of a "crush" on her, ever since I rediscovered Dracula almost two years ago. She's more beautiful than she gets credit for, IMO. She has based her careeer on talent and effort, not her looks. She's like one of those people who doesn't know how lovely she is, and that makes her even more beautiful, if I'm making any sense.

Hard not to be. You should see my magazine clippings. 2 thick albums of just that. And video collection. LOL. But seeing as how I do have an addictive personality, which I have worked on since realizing it, I try not to be obsessed with anything. It's definitely not a 'I wanna marry her type of obsession for me'(well, I'm gay) and definitely not a 'I wanna stalk her' type of obsession( I saw her in person and I didn't even wanna come near her). I think the reason why I'm so fond of her is because I relate to her when I'm watching her on-screen. I like the honesty in her performance.

Right? I think it's a combination of the fact that she chooses movies that deal a lot with the psyche, which is what originally drew me in. Then as I read more about her life, I discovered that she has personally dealt with anxiety and depression, which makes me think she would accept others who have experienced similar things; she has great taste in music and movies, she's kind of weird (in a good way), she's funny, she's adorable and seemingly friendly, she seems non-judgmental, etc. There are so many good friend qualities that she possesses. Sorry this is months late! I grew up watching her movies, but I never actually noticed her until I saw Mr. Deeds in theaters, I guess I was about 14 or 15 at the time, and I got the biggest crush on her, and to this day I still do. Mr. Deeds was the first movie I saw of hers in theaters, when I was a slightly younger than 15, but I didn't even realize who she was-- it wasn't until I was 17 that I fell in love with Mermaids and then realized, "Oh, woops, I have seen lots of this chick's movies without having any clue what her name was." I agree with basically everything you said there. Being a Kate fan (I am, too!) makes her seem just like all of us on this board! Ha.
