Yep, Philsy, I must say he is certainly one of the best "moon-crooners" to ever sing a lovely song, if not the best...even with, or without, that...baby blue mohair sack suit. Yepsy, yep.  Smiley

This is easily my favorite Flaming Lips song. And its not just the listening here, its the viewing of this one thats the difference, which is interestingly put together, and though its not the best, its ... realizing.

The Informers.
Again.
For reasons of character study.
That Canter's Deli scene with Cheryl Moore.
While interesting, what is its context in the film, really?
Other likewise scenes could be in question, as well.
I don't get this direction in this film, entirely.

On Tv-shows I watch some currently - some bought, some copied...

Miami Vice Season 1 - this series still rocks, and I was visiting South Beach two years ago - what a difference
Doctor Who - old and new series, lately watched the finale with David Tennant
Dead Zone Season 3 - got this from a friend
Primeval - Hannah Spearritt is hot... Roll Eyes

This is personally the most fun 1980's vampire film (1987) to watch over and over again. And for many memorable and nostalgic reasons as well. Especially if your researching, artistically.

One thing now occured to me watching Miami Vice: Edward James Olmos plays the Lieutenant.

What a career: From Police Lieutenant to Battlestar Commander.... Cheers

Today I watched on a digital german station a rerun of Raumpatroullie Orion (Space Patrol Orion) - germans first take on a sci-fi series. While sets and effects are today quite outdated - including the flatiron with a telephone dail on the command console - it was quite remarkable for its time. Premiered only a week in germany after the Star Trek pilot aired in the US. Sadly - or gladly depending on which you ask - it was only filmed in black and white and penned some cult phrases among german sci-fi fans like "Lichtspruch" (the Orion communicates whith pulsed Lasers) and "Rücksturz" (Orion always falls back to a position: Fallback to Earth).

The general atmosphere was little more grim than on Star Trek were the Enterprise' mission was "to seek out new lifeforms and new civilisations" while the Orion was mainly a warship fighting the Frogs - a mysterious alien species forcing themselves into Earth territory. Captain of the Orion was Commander McLane - with a quite Kirk-like character - and on his side was Galactic Security Officer Tamara Jagelovsk who qouted regulations and listed McLane violations of military codes.

But Orion also had - in comparison to Trek - far more women in important positions in the spacefleet. Including space squadron General van Dyke on board her admirals ship Hydra.

A nice excerpt with english subtitles:
