TRON 2 Legacy will finally come out next year.

I still remember watching the original movie when I was VERY young and it's one of the reasons I work in IT today. I still quote Flynn to my colleagues:

Interesting.... I'd see it. Jeff Bridges is awesome!

It doesn't come out until 2011... really!?! Huh?

I'd see it just for the eye-candy of it in 3D. When I was kid I liked it a lot, but the idea of it is kind of cheesy. But it was cool to look at. Nothing looked like that when it came out. It looks really lame now.

I hope they also release it as "normal" movie - they so often tried with 3D but I honestly don't see the point in it.... yawn zzz

I guess everything gets "sequeled" these days.

Are the 3D films any good? Has anyone seen one?

My experiences with 3D so far are mostly ending up that couldn't "see" the 3D...I've quite an exotic eye-disorder - normal vision is okay with glasses - but with 3D so far I always wondered when the 3D would finally start....

The one and only exception so far is IMAX-3D - I saw it at NASA's Kennedy Space Center and was quite stunning - but I assume watching it for more then 20 minutes could be quite tiring.

The same goes for me with HD. Even colleagues who spent a fortune on HD equip told me "after a few minutes you "just" watch a movie". And as the screen is bigger according to doctor's orders you should sit farther away from it - and as it's bigger you normally don't have more pixels per square-inch on 1,5 meter HD than on a regular 0,7 meter tube......so?

I guess most of this is just a money-printing machine for the electronics companies. 35mm film rules  Tongue

If they want to revive something great why not make movies in 70mm Cinerama again. I once saw 2001: A Space Odyssey in a Cinerama theatre - THAT is great!!! 3:1 aspect ratio projected on a HUGE curved screen.  happy yes happy yes happy yes

I've actually never seen a film in 3-D, not in a theatre. Maybe I saw a "3D" TV program once, but I don't think the 3D effect worked for me. I remember that you needed these red/blue glasses. I've certainly never seen a good 3-D film.

I read somewhere that 3D films have been popular this summer, so I wondered if I should seek one out. Maybe the technology actually works these days?

As for HD, well I don't really think it is a big deal. I think the sound system often makes a bigger difference that the picture. And I wish they would spend more time on improving the off-air reception. Here in the US it tends to be crap. I'm 35 miles from the transmitter and the reception is unstable. I've just ordered another antenna, larger and uglier than the present one. We'll see if it works!
