"The Skeleton Twins"

The Skeleton Twins is about estranged twins Milo and Maggie, who coincidentally cheat death on the same day, which prompts them to reunite and confront how and why their lives went awry. The screenplay has extraordinary roles for both male and female actors and I think it’s a terrific story. But as with any independent film, there are challenges.

Edit: Who could be Winona's twin brother... I'm thinking Justin Theroux!

Plus: Maybe a guest in a tv-show like 30 Rock or Boston Legal (are those still running in the US?) Or as guest companion in a Doctor Who xmas special...

But mainly a major drama with Winona playing the lead...

Diablo Cody Writing Young Adult
A tale of old exes and new sex

Since nabbing her Oscar for Juno, scriptwriter Diablo Cody has barely stopped working, pumping out the likes of Jennifer’s Body and TV comedy drama The United States Of Tara. Now she’s scored another job with the original screenplay Young Adult.

Mandate Pictures and John Malkovich’s Mr Mudd production company, which helped get Juno made, has snapped up the pitch, which will follow a divorced thirtysomething young adult writer who heads back to her hometown in the hopes of winning back her ex-boyfriend, who is now married and a father.

It’s just one more assignment for Cody, who is already hard at work on both adapting the Sweet Valley High novels and Shakespeare’s The Taming Of The Shrew for the big screen. You've got to admit - she's got eclectic taste...

I'd love to see Winona as Alice Coombs and Robert Downey Jr as Phillip Engstrand in the newly announced David Cronenberg adaptation "As She Climbed Across the Table."  What do you think...

Plot:

Particle physics, false vacuum bubbles, an alternate universe--this is the stuff of Jonathan Lethem's novel As She Climbed Across the Table. The tale echoes Alice in Wonderland in its mad tumble through a rearranged reality. Narrator Phillip Engstrand is a university professor who has made a career out of studying academic environments. Engstrand is in love with Alice Coombs, a particle physicist engaged in a bold attempt to replicate the origins of the universe. The result of the experiment is Lack, a very selective black hole that sucks some things into its void--a cat, a pair of socks, a strawberry--and rejects others, namely, a love-struck Alice. As Alice's unrequited obsession with Lack grows, Phillip becomes so desperate to save his beloved from this empty rival that he risks a journey down the metaphysical rabbit hole.

Part noir, part psychedelic romp, all Thomas Pynchon— private eye Doc Sportello comes, occasionally, out of a marijuana haze to watch the end of an era as free love slips away and paranoia creeps in with the L.A. fog. It’s been awhile since Doc Sportello has seen his ex-girlfriend. Suddenly out of nowhere she shows up with a story about a plot to kidnap a billionaire land developer whom she just happens to be in love with. Easy for her to say. It’s the tail end of the psychedelic sixties in L.A., and Doc knows that “love” is another of those words going around at the moment, like “trip” or “groovy,” except that this one usually leads to trouble.
