Oh, Jeez... I did hesitate to post this here but...whatever, here it is anyway. Embarrassed

Gwyneth Paltrow: Winona Ryder’s Frenemy?

In her latest GOOP newsletter, Gwyneth Paltrow talks about why the media spins stories negatively and mentions a “frenemy,” most likely referring to her former best friend, actress Winona Ryder. (Their friendship ended when Gwyn reportedly stole the part of Shakespeare in Love from Winona. Industry insiders have denied this rumor.)

Gwyn writes, “Back in the day, I had a ‘frenemy’ who, as it turned out, was pretty hell-bent on taking me down. This person really did what they could to hurt me. I was deeply upset, I was angry, I was all of those things you feel when you find out that someone you thought you liked was venomous and dangerous. I restrained myself from fighting back. I tried to take the high road. But one day I heard that something unfortunate and humiliating had happened to this person. And my reaction was deep relief and…happiness. There went the high road. So, why does it feel so good to hear something bad about someone you don’t like? Or someone you DO like? Or someone you don’t KNOW? I once asked the editor of a tabloid newspaper why all of the stories about a famous British couple had a negative bent. He said that when the headline was positive, the paper didn’t sell. Why is that? What’s wrong with us? I asked the sages to shed a little light. Here’s to washing our mouths out with soap… Love, Gwyneth.” Check out the rest of the Q&A at GOOP.com.

The “unfortunate and humiliating” incident Gwyn mentioned is likely referring to Winona’s 2001 shoplifting incident, where she stole $5K worth of designer clothes and accessories at a Saks Fifth Avenue department store.

...and this “frenemy” tidbit just happens to come out around the time Winona starts promotions for Star Trek? Coincidence, I think not.

Oh, Gwynie... Someone needs attention!

What we long suspected we now know: Gwynnie is truely pathetic.

To be honest I really liked Sky Captain And The World Of Tomorrow - great effects extravaganza - and Gwynnie plays the always screaming always wimpie ex-girlfriend of the hero: quite fitting..... Tongue

But next to that this will come up always: Over at celebutopia some troll posted a stupid remark again.....people say: stay cool and ignore.....but I can't.....I like Noni too much to keep such gibberish standing.....

Gwyneth is truly pathetic.

And yesterday I remembered why I enjoyed so much Se7en: her head was cut off.  Tongue
I remembered some people talking to me, then, that I was so jealous, happy with this just because she was Brad's fiancée. Poor people, they never could imagine...  laugh

This is retarded. Who's to say who she's even talking about? People hate Gwyneth because of tabloid gossip stuff?

Is it time to end this message board? This is embarrassing. Sad

Well, we don't know who she's talking about and in this case it is not tabloid fodder- it's what she actually said and wrote on her blog or whatever. And regardless of who she is talking about, I think what she did is still childish and just kind of silly. Also, I can say that I personally don't hate her, I just don't like her much and it has nothing to do with Winona- at all. She just comes across as being a bit pretentious.

Shocked Why should the message board end? I don't get it! Cry

I guess I just shouldn't have posted the story... Doh!

Those were just my thought as I read about people hating on someone they've never met, based on things they've read in gossip articles.

Before I found this site I would always check in  at  the Winona Ryder News Channel. I liked that site because it was "news", speculation, gossip, rumor, and emotion had no place among those pages. I miss that site.  I like facts. I like this site because I can find facts and information and there are interesting contributors who offer submissions that extend beyond the sphere of Winona Ryder. This is a pretty cool place.  But there is a tendency for knee-jerk reactions at times when one should be sitting back and allowing for time and information to unfold. That can be frustrating.

Oh yeah, well, you know how ignorant people can be. I'm actually surprised to see most people sticking up for Winona, instead of having joke after joke relating to shoplifting. I have to admit, that was nice to see for a change.

Moreover, I can see what you're saying about those kind of reactions, here. I for one always try to post the facts as I see them. I think rarely post gossip. The only rumors I tend to post here is when I see that Winona might be up for a certain film role. But that I cannot help! I simply get too excited whenever I see film news related to Winona and therefore I have to post it whether it happens or not! As for, dating rumors, drug rumors.. blah, blah, blah what have you. I  defiantly always stay away from that kind of stuff!  Roll Eyes The only thing I care about is Winona's film career!

 Hi Chris,

You submit amazing information.  Nothing but respect.
My thing on this is, I didn't live with Gwenyth and Winona and neither one of them have whispered in my ear. They were very close at one point,it seems, and I imagine that there is some emotional stuff between the two of them. That's natural. Who really knows what happened? They are both human and I am guessing that they are both guilty and innocent. I am ignorant and just trying to gather some information. What?

Maybe - and I truely do include myself into this - have some high feeling here. Most likely due Winona is always trashed upon and joked upon since 2001. And now - when its happening all over again - poeple just leap at the person handing it out - or supposed to handing it out.

And the the case with Gwyneth isn't new: just remember that old comic were Winona sits waiting to trap her with the "Next Oscar-Moviescript" - so the tension against her was always here.

And cooled down one have say: Winona hasn't anytime said anything about Gwyneth - and its just sad Gwyneth herself has now lowered herself to make this public - not daring to discuss it out privately with Winona and maybe even clearing things up.

Remember that interview Winona gave to Gwyneth? Link - They were a hot pair.....

And about this board: If we would all be humpty-dumpty the same opinion it would be quite boring..... Embarrassed

But agreed: Lets turn to Informers, Pippa Lee, Trek and Stay Cool - all comming up shortly.... Cheers
