John August Picks His Top 10 Greatest Movie Badasses
Published by MTV Movies Team on Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 12:15 pm.
The search for the Greatest Movie Badass of All Time is on! MTV News has asked accomplished filmmakers, actors and you, the audience, to vote for your favorites. Now we’ve tabulated the results and found our 10 finalists for the top spot. Who will reign supreme as the Greatest Badass of All Time? Find out on February 6 at 7:15 p.m. when MTV announces the winner live at New York’s Comic-Con and right here at MTV.com.

WHO: John August
WHAT: “Go” (writer), “Charlie’s Angels” (2000, writer), “Big Fish” (writer)

THE LIST:

10. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), “Silence of the Lambs” — If he can’t eat you, he’ll find a way to get you to eat yourself.

9. The Borg, “Star Trek: First Contact” — A cheat, really, because they were scarier when they were first introduced on TNG.

8. Veronica (Winona Ryder), “Heathers” — She makes bad choices, but outlasts psycho-boy.

7. William Munny (Clint Eastwood), “Unforgiven” — Really, any Eastwood character. But having nothing to live for is a form of immortality.

6. The Monster, “Cloverfield” — Godzilla’s deformed cousin.

5. Predator, “Predator” — Why hunt humans? For sport. At least Predator gets on the ground, not like those helicopter cowards in Alaska.

4. Alex Forrest (Glenn Close) “Fatal Attraction” — She’s not going to be ignored, Dan.

3. Annie Wilkes (Kathy Bates) “Misery” — A little needy perhaps, but she’s a self-sufficient and take-charge.

2. Tom Ripley (Matt Damon) “The Talented Mr. Ripley” — Yes, he feels terrible about the people he kills. But that doesn’t stop him.

1. Ripley (Sigourney Weaver) “Aliens” — Duct tape? Check. Flamethrower? Lit. I would follow her anywhere.

laugh That's for sure!

Mr August, has some strange choices there. Though, it's nice to see Winona on his list. Now, I hope he and Tim Burton are smart and cast Winona in "Dark Shadows" alongside Johnny Depp. Grin
