This can't be good: http://www.contactmusic.c...ice%20investigate_1088002Actress WINONA RYDER is at the centre of a new controversy after reportedly losing $125,000 (GBP81,170)-worth of borrowed Bulgari diamonds loaned to her for an awards ceremony appearance in Spain. The Girl, Interrupted star had been given a diamond-encrusted bracelet and ring to wear to a Marie Claire magazine party in Madrid earlier this week (begs24Nov08). She reported the items missing after allegedly handing them in to her hotel's front desk in an envelope to be kept in the venue's safe. But according to French magazine Voici, the hotel bosses have not yet been able to locate surveillance footage to prove Ryder's claims - and Bulgari executives have now asked police to investigate the jewellery disappearance.

That article sounds a bit more promising than the first one, despite its use of street language. But damn, I really hope this is all a mistake Poor Winona. From the sound of the second article, if it's at all reliable, it doesn't sound like she's guilty. But if she is, I am going to feel so bad for her. I respect Winona so much... :\ I'd hate for any of this crap to be her fault. Fingers crossed that it's not.

Yeah, I don't think she'll be guilty either (praying) but you know some people will probably point fingers and say stuff like "...why didn't she tell anyone from Marie Claire she was leaving and have them send someone to get it?" She doesn't need this @#$% right now

http://www.nydailynews.co...ona_ryder_accused_of.htmlThe annoying part is that people use words like " again?" for this incident referring to what in Saks happened. She was found guilty and paid it, why do they always keep reminding it ? Silly thing. I hope the diamonds get found somehow.

They keep mentioning it because it's the thing that was never explained adequately. You'll never live down being a thief unless you talk about it and why you did it. She barely touched on what went on that day. Why did it happen? We may never know. What did Winona say about it? That she didn't feel it was that big of a deal and she never felt bad about it (words to that effect). That too much attention was given to it in light of 9/11/01. Well then if that's her attitude then people that are not huge fans will always remember her as the actress that shoplifted. I'm sad to say it will follow her to her grave until she does something to overshadow that. She hasn't really done anything of note since that incident. That's the biggest thing she's done since "Girl Interrupted!" I love Winona, but I think her way of dealing with what happened was terrible. I would have preferred that she talked about what happened honestly but she hasn't chosen to do that. Now I still feel she is viewed as someone with various problems - either a kleptomanic, drug addict or other mental health issues. The fact that she apparently overdosed on a plane doesn't help this view of her.

I agree. I think that when she finally talked about the whole incident she should have said something different and went into it more. I understand what she meant when she said that too much of a big deal was made and that she didn't feel bad about the whole incident because she hadn't hurt anyone, and I agree with her on that. But, that's all that she said really, and I think that a lot of people took that as her pretty much saying that it was no big deal. I know that discussing what happened that day with the entire world is a very hard thing to do, but I think she would have been better off saying something as simple as "I did it...I was going through a rough time or whatever...I know that it was wrong, and I'm sorry", because I think that's what the public was waiting for. She needs to get herself attached to some great movie and give us an amazing performance so that she can move past all of this, because I'm sick of something about the whole shoplifting thing being brought up after anything that is said or written about her. This trip to Spain was no good for her, and I feel really bad about that. She looked fantastic at the Marie Claire event, the best she's looked in a while, and I was hoping that that was going to overshadow the plane incident. But, now this whole jewelry thing was brought up, and people are back to constantly bringing up her past. I don't think that she took the jewelry, I think that somebody probably stole it, and people saw this as an opportunity to accuse her of something because of what she has previously done. Winona's my favorite actress, has been since I was a kid, and I really can't wait for the day that she and the public will be able to move past this.

----- Yes this incident is entirely different and no one can really blame Winona for it so far. And the recent UPI article claims Winona checked out of her and left the expensive items in her room. How would they know if Winona actually forgot to return them and left the bracelet and ring in the room ----- The whole thing is very strange. ----- Rusty

It makes me wonder if the recent Paris robbery is connected somehow. Jewelry stolen in Spain and then about a week later Paris, France hmmm

Oh god. Not that framing nonsense again.
Winona was 100% guilty of the original incident. I won't go that far in this new case due to lack of information and facts -- but if people want to assume as such it's her fault alone for her previous criminal actions. That's how people think: If it looks like a duck....
