Last week while shopping at Borders Book Store I saw a two volume book set in the humor section "The Completely Mad Don Martin. Two large books Volume one 1956 - 1974 and Volume two 1974 - 1988. For $150 for both books----- I remember Don Martin's comic art style in Mad magazine very well and I was thinking I should get the books. ------ I'm glad I waited because this week I got a 40% off coupon online from Border's. So yesterday I got the two volume set for just $90. -------- And I got a very nice surprise, the forward to the books was done by Gary Larson!!!!!! ------ The man who created the greatest cartoons ever in my opinion!!!! ----- "The Far Side" ----- Exactly four years ago I had bought Gary's complete collection (1980 to 1994) in a two book set. ----- Gary admired Don Martin's work when he first read Mad magazine forty years ago. ----------- Anyway I'm halfway through the first Don Martin book and man!!!!! getting to see his work again, after so many years, is a trip down memory lane for me.
