Green's friends doubt Ryder romance reports

OTTAWA - The reported romance of Tom Green and actress Winona Ryder has even caught some of the Ottawa comic's friends by surprise.
The pair was recently spotted cuddling at Hollywood's Crown Bar, according to eyewitnesses. Ryder, 36, has split from her rocker boyfriend Blake Sennett, and Green, 37, has not been linked with anyone in particular since his short-lived marriage seven years ago to Drew Barrymore.
"They know each other and they see each other once in awhile, but I don't know if I would call it dating yet," said Phil Giroux, Green's longtime friend and vice-president of MagMic Games, an Ottawa-based developer of mobile entertainment products. "But they friends for sure and it's not like they don't know each other."

Font:****Giroux said he spoke to Green on Thursday when stories of the comic's purported romance with Ryder were abuzz over the Internet. He said Green didn't say anything about his relationship with Ryder.
"I wouldn't believe everything you see on the internet, let's put it that way," said Giroux.
He said Green was "in good spirits" when they spoke and is working on his talk show, which airs on the Comedy channel and on the internet. Ryder was arrested in 2001 on shoplifting charges after she was accused of stealing $5,500 of designer clothing and accessories from Saks Fifth Avenue. She was later fined, sentenced to three years of probation and had to perform 480 hours of community service. She has dated actors Johnny Depp and Christian Slater, among others.
Green has been busy with his talk show but has a new movie, Freezer Burn: The Invasion of Laxdale, which is expected to be released this year. Green could not be reached for comment Friday and his representatives did not respond to an interview request
