Ah, geez, sorry to hear that, Gary sad no
I had no idea.
I thought maybe yours was broadcasting maybe like a local college station. There must be a zillion like yours though?

Thanks Phil - I'm not sure what you mean by "a zillion like yours" though. How many people own an FM transmitter?

I'm not really complaining about this. I got away with it for 12 years in two locations. It was totally against FCC regulations. There's no way I could be licensed - and really wouldn't want to be anyway.

JD - well AM is like a step down- the sound quality sucks and I don't happen to own an AM transmitter anyway.

I have thought about changing frequencies and continuing, but I don't think I will since one visit from Feds is enough for me and I don't need to get into any more trouble. I can't afford to be fined.

Also not sure if I should continue the internet thing. It's also not above board. Might be time to close the whole thing down and consider myself lucky. Not worth the hassle.

Well I've been thinking a lot lately about this and having the FCC come to my house has convinced me to stop all broadcasting of WFZR - on the air and online. I really can't afford to continue. I've looked into doing legally and it's just not possible for me, financially and programing-wise. I'd have to radically alter the way I do things and I'm not willing to do that. The whole purpose of WFZR is to exist outside of the rules. I've learned that eventually they will get you. I can't afford a lawsuit. I feel like I've been pushing my luck and I think for myself and my family I need to fade out now. Thanks to everyone that listened and enjoyed it. I loved doing it.

Wow that sucks. There's nothing like a visit from the Government to ruin your day!!!

This must have been a low power transmitter? They probably spent some time tracking you down. I don't blame you for shutting everything down. If you are attracting unwanted attention that is definitely the best thing to do. At least for now.

I can't imagine a member of the public reporting you to the FCC. It was probably another radio station, maybe one of the big commercial operations.

Best of luck and hope you don't hear anything more from them.
