Cheesy ----- Movie adaptation of Edith Whardon's Pulitzer Prize wining novel about 1870's New York society. ----- Winona was nominated for an Oscar as best supporting actress, and won the Golden Globe awards as best supporting actress. Definitely one of Winona's best performances. The move itself is kind of slow, but Winona's time in it is great.

Greatest film she's ever participated in to date. Themes explored that we can all relate too, wonderfully acted, perhaps sporting the most elegant narration I've ever heard. The whole film can be summed up with the word "elegant".

Definitely a beautifully constructed film, though I'm not a fan of the 'mannered' novels that this sort of movie is based on. [Anything by Jane Austen, for instance, leaves me cold] So while it will never be a favourite, I thought Noni's performance in it was exceptional and perfectly understated.
