it's not a secret that i don't feel much affinities with Chinese people for several reasons like bad treatments towards animals  Cry
but i have no hate nor what against the chinese PEOPLE ...ok..? BUT  i have huge HATE,ANGER & etc against Chinese government ...for violences against Tibetain People since 1949...since they've invaded Tibet...
Violences we've seen on TV screen & the web those last days are totally incredible...for we know(we're not blind nor stupid..are we..? Wink ) it's not the entire truth... almost officially  10 deads were reported now about 80 to 100 are reported...
i can't believe Olympic Games are going to be in China in few months...i also can't believe everyone in the world just closes the  eyes about Chinese Dictature in Tibet & Human Rights violations because everyone makes business with China...i ,OF COURSE, include my own country.... Angry
anyway...as i did by past for animals..i couldn't shut my mouth about all that..if you feel concerned or want to react PLEASE DO...(whatever is your opinion about it...)

PS:few things to know about Tibet :
1:Tibet has been violently invaded in 1949..since then 1,2 millions of Tibetains are directly dead because of this invasion...
2:China launched 'Final Solution' decades ago ,installing Chinese colons ...there are now more Chinese In Tibet than Tibetains...
3:Tibetain Women are more than bad treated..they're sterilised by force ,tortured,raped,prostitued...
4:Among the 250 official prisonners detained by China Gvt ,there is the Panchen Lama who's just 14 years old & spend half his life in jail...
..i could go on & on..but no...

It's a really sad situation, but it is hard to see what can be done about it. I think after a while things will quiet down and go back to being the way they were before. Maybe something will be said during the Olympics but there are too many commercial interests who want to suck up to China.

What is really needed is a major change of government within China itself, which may happen eventually if their economy stalls.

Thanks for replying Dearest Don...when you say 'i think after a while things will quiet down & go back to being the way they were before ' i don't really get it...we all perfectly know that China will never let Tibet to exist by itself as a free country & they will ALWAYS consider Tibetains people as 'under'-people...
i personnaly believe that things shouldn't quiet down..people everywhere in the world should go down in the street & say FREE TIBET...i was very very very proud of what happened monday evening for the Olympic Flamme lightning...the 3 french guys of 'Reporters sans frontières' have done what they were supposed to do... rock
i will put a red 'Free Tibet' on my fake leather little jacket...i don't know what to do more for the moment ...except talking about it with people i know on the net & in 'real' life...
i think we just musn't accept this situation...'cause ,in a way or an other ,at a moment or an other ,we all fought for our Freedom (independance ,during wars etc...) and in 2008 we all must incourage & support those who also fight for their freedom ,wherever they are ,by all the ways we can ... read the f'n manual read the f'n manual read the f'n manual

i agree, Peg...

the real trouble i see is exactly in what Don wrote - that "after a while things will quiet down and go back to being the way they were before" - that people forget... horrible things happen in the world, and after just a few weeks "everyone" forgets about it, like nothing ever happened...

free Tibet! happy yes

im sure people who watch news on tv (or the net) have seen what happened in Paris...all those ridiculous cops to hit people who protested for freedom in Tibet ...in the country of Human Rights !!!! im ashamed for my country...if they (CIO)didn't want any problems why did they chose China for Olympic Games...?
in 1936 some people didn't hesitate to mark their desapproval to Hitler...WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE...?  sad no sad no
i hope somethings will happen in the USA....THANKS for people in SF who put the flags on The Golden Gate...that was excellent... rock rock rock rock rock rock rock rock rock rock rock
don't hesitate to express yourself...i don't think people can stay quiet & cold to Tibet'situation...

several recent reports on french TV 'comfort' me (correct?) about the image i had of Chinese Gvt policy in China but it wasn't as scandalous as it is ...and i know we probably see only 40% of REALITY & TRUTH...
there's something that 's really a problem for me & i hope i won't be misunderstood: i've seen images of people in Paris,Los Angeles ...in the street protesting against ' biased media coverage of the Olympic torch relay and exagereted situation in Tibet' and i don't understand that at all....if all those Chinese have immigrated in foreign countries decades or years ago ,it means something...it means situation in their country wasn't good to stay & live in ..so why are they protesting now if our media just show & tell (a part of ) what is really going on there...? i had at 3friends who ESCAPED from China & Laos & Cambodge in the 80's with their families and trust me ,they didn't want to hear about China ,Laos & Cambodge anymore....even if they had emotional attaches ,they were pretty happy to be in a free country ...also my uncle's mother is Vietnamese & she married with a french soldier and escaped as soon as she could...who would dare to tell me situation is better now for people living there...? WHO?
not people like Hu Jia ,Shi Tao & Wang Xiaoning ...

Well, like you said :

"we all perfectly know that China will never let Tibet to exist by itself as a free country "

It's good to make a bit of noise but realistically I don't see anything changing. China's getting rich off of trade with the West...boycotting their goods is the only thing that might get attention.

Even in  SF the government tried to reduce the opportunities to protest the torch...but protests are a big thing here so can't stop them altogether.

i don't think that's the only thing to do..but that's already something. Smiley...when i buy asian food (several english/indian/asian stores in Antibes) i don't buy chinese products...for months & months...
you also can wear a Tibetan flag...lot of people have one here...ill try to buy one tomorrow if i have time after work...
to make a bit of noise is never useless...things don't change from our point of view but being supported by foreign people all around probably changes a lot for them...being supported always matters...
i've seen recent images of protests in China against french interets like Carrefour...it's all so afflicting...all that is so spontaneous...so sincere....
Thanks for reacting Dearest Don..happy you write here again.... love love love

kind of off topic but I found these stats interesting:

Quote
The United States has, for instance, 2.3 million criminals behind bars, more than any other nation, according to data maintained by the International Center for Prison Studies at King’s College London.

China, which is four times more populous than the United States, is a distant second, with 1.6 million people in prison. (That number excludes hundreds of thousands of people held in administrative detention, most of them in China’s extrajudicial system of re-education through labor, which often singles out political activists who have not committed crimes.)

ok carry on...

It's really a shame that even today millions of people are away from their rights. If only many countries decided to refuse sending their sportsmen to China. Then this would be a real protest.  Sad

Plus, Tibet is not the only region which suffers from such implementations. People of East Turkestan (Shinjang Uyghur) region also suffers from bad treatments of that goverment.  Sad

im reading History of Turkestan in french and im very surprised/chocked...i didnt know all that...
'Children under the age of 18 are not allowed to attend church or mosque'..'religious traditions have formed a crucial part of the Uyghur identity for centuries'...no freedom of religion????how scandalous...but nor surprising..freedom of religion isn't a right in China...

'The Chinese government recently claimed to have foiled terrorist plots by Uyghur seperatists to disrupt the 2008 Olympic Games involving kidnapping althletes, journalists and tourists. The security ministry said 35 arrests had been made in recent weeks and explosives had been seized in Xinjiang province. It said 10 others were held when police smashed another plot based in Xinjiang back in January to disrupt the Games. However, Uyghur activists have accused the Chinese of fabricating terror plots to crack down on the people of the region and prevent them airing legitimate grievances. Some foreign observers are also skeptical, questioning if China is inflating a terror threat to justify a clampdown on dissidents before the Olympics.

............mmmmmmmmmmmm...Chinese Gvt also pretends Tibetains are terrorists...at the moment you just disagree with Gvt or claim something that's disaproved or denied by it ,you are a terrorist...F.....!

If only people were as sensitive as you were to problems of others dear Corky.

It's really a shame.  Sad Plus, these people of East Turkestan (Uyghurs) are our (people of modern Turkey) consanguines,  ancestors. And our goverment today doesn't even know what kind of pains they suffer! What a irresponsibility..  Angry

I hope something extraordinary will  happen and Olimpics get cancelled..  tumbleweed
